The ability to gather one's attention, to calm and still the mind, is a foundational aspect of all Buddhist meditation. There are practices that focus only on stilling the mind (Samatha), and those that use stillness while also bringing interest to all that arises in one's experience (Vipassana).
During this retreat, held in an environment of silence, we will cultivate stillness as a basis for Vipassana practice, as we explore how this integration opens the mind to insight into the truth of the way things are. By seeing each moment with greater clarity, we will create the conditions that lead to liberating wisdom.
This course is suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators. |
