Mindfulness of breathing is often one of the first meditation practices that we learn. Not only is it an excellent foundation for all other varieties of meditation, it was also taught by the Buddha as the basis for a complete path to awakening, including calming the mind, experiencing joy, and cultivating insight and freedom.
In this 4-week course we explore and practise the progressive steps of this path as outlined by the Buddha in the Ānāpānasati Sutta (discourse on mindfulness of breathing). This offers a helpful framework for understanding and experiencing the transformative potential of mindfulness and Dharma practice for meeting the challenges of our lives. |
